SubCat is an independent recording studio, located in Syracuse, NY. We love original music! Our goal is to make each artist sound the best they possibly can. In addition to our huge list of local clients, we have also worked with artists from San Antonio, Los Angeles, New York and Sweden with releases on Interscope, Century Media and Virgin Records. Not only do we make the best recordings around, but we also have a great design and duplication team that can press and package your album right here in the studio.
The studio was located in Skaneateles, NY from September 2001 until January 2011, where we have made hundreds of records with hundreds of different bands. In February 2011 we relocated to a brand new, 3 studio complex, in downtown Syracuse.

Ron Keck Owner / Engineer / Music Teacher
Ron began his extensive career studying music at Onondaga Community College and Syracuse University, and teaching private percussion lessons. For 25 years Ron taught the best and brightest percussion musicians in the Central New York area, gaining notoriety as one of the regions premiere instructors.
Along with his private lessons, Ron composes and arranges for percussion. Through KDA Productions, Ron edited and mastered audio for 20 years, until founding SubCat Studios. | Listen to Ron Keck's recordings below:

Jeremy Johnston Owner / Engineer
Jeremy is a graduate of Cayuga's acclaimed Telecom Program where he received an A.A.S. in Audio Production and quickly began his career in music.
He has since had the opportunity to engineer sessions for New Found Glory, Everlast and Grammy Winning artists; Jose Alvarez and Joanne Shenandoah. Jeremy has also engineered sessions in New York City at KAS Music, Pie Studios and The Manhattan Center. In addition to music, Jeremy loves making short films, burritos, going to local shows, traveling and creating art. Derek Yackel Engineer / Producer / Studio Manager
Derek has been immersed in music nearly his entire life. A graduate of the Crane School of Music, he is competent on multiple instruments, but he considers himself mostly a guitar player these days.
As a musician and an engineer / producer, Derek's strongest points have always been a great ear, and deep insight into music. At SubCat, Derek has had the pleasure of working with some of the best talent in the region, as well as "national" clients such as Bruce Katz (Greg Allman/ The Allman Brothers), John Walsh (America's Most Wanted). Jason Eldridge Media Duplication
Jason received his degree in audio production from Cayuga Community College's Telecom program in 2007. Since joining Subcat in 2008, he has applied his knowledge of music and audio production in creating physical albums for artists.
As a musician himself, he recognizes the importance of a high-quality finished product as the culmination of a creative process. This dedication to fellow artists has resulted in a rapidly expanding short-run duplication service, making Subcat not only CNY's best recording studio but also its best CD print shop. |
Leslie Brown Graphic Designer
Starting out studying as a fine artist, Leslie joined the SubCat ranks in 2008. Since that time, she has worked with many bands, businesses and individuals on a variety of creative projects.
