We hope you and your families have been doing well throughout the pandemic. At Subcat Studios, we know the performing arts have been hit hard, and we would love to help with any Virtual Concerts you may be considering to produce during this school year.
The experience of creating a Virtual Concert is a unique educational opportunity for you and your students. By having students record themselves for the production, they have the opportunity to be reflective, assess their individual performance, and find ways to improve for the final product. It also allows for their teacher to give direct feedback that is differentiated to their needs as a musician, in the same way one would during their individual or group lessons.
Virtual concerts provide one of the few opportunities to recreate the ensemble experience during situations when having an ensemble isn’t possible. It also provides the students with a finished product to reflect on, and creates an opportunity for discussion of the process of learning and performing music, as individuals and as a group, in a new way.
We are planning to make virtual concerts as effortless as possible for students. We will guide students on how to set up for best sound recording with a video tutorial, give them tracks to listen to while recording, and set up a drop box for them to safely transfer the files. Once sent to us, we will sync, professionally mix, and edit all of the audio and video files to get the best sound possible.
Here are some samples of our work:

East Syracuse-Minoa Highlight Reel
Additionally, we will handle the sync and mechanical licensing involved with virtual concert videos. In order to post a video publicly, licenses must be obtained to ensure that the video will not be removed from YouTube and other social media.
Subcat is happy to comply with the Data Privacy Plan in effect in many schools. Security is of utmost importance, and we respect and abide by these guidelines.
If you have any questions, please reach out to us at (315) 478-0684. We would be happy to discuss your options. Thank you!
Virtual Marching BanD
Do you or your children play in a marching band? Subcat knows how much students must miss their rehearsals, competitions, and the performance aspect of being in a music ensemble. That's why we've teamed up with Casey Vanderstouw, President of the New York State Field Band Conference, to put on a virtual Band performance of Billy Joel’s “New York State of Mind” with students from all across NY. If you or someone you know is a band student and would like to be a part of this virtual performance, please visit the link below to register to participate. It is completely free, noncompetitive, and a collaboration of marching bands from across the state. Any student can sign up! We would love to see your video, and can't wait for you to join us in this project!
